PAART is proud to present the Nashville Ballet performing one of their most popular  ballets. In this West African folk tale, a hunter named Ama meets a magical singing tortoise. Once he befriends her, she tries to teach him that man is simply a visitor on earth who needs to respect all things. But Ama tries to exploit the tortoise's special gifts in order to gain favor with the people of his village. However, the tortoise has a plan of her own which causes Ama to learn his lesson the hard way. This cautionary tale about Ama and the Singing Tortoise features an infectious percussion score, the choreography of Artistic Director Paul Vasterling, and elaborate masks that represent animals and chieftains.
